‘Shrek The Musical’

—CCT will perform July 22-25
CRESCO - Live theatre is back in Cresco!  For the past two months, more than 40 community members have been busy working on the production of DreamWorks “Shrek The Musical.”
The productions will take place July 22, 23 and 24 at 7 p.m. and July 25 at 2 p.m. at the Cresco Opera House.  Doors will open one-half hour before the performances.
Advance tickets are available at CUSB Bank, Cresco Bank & Trust, Cresco Chamber of Commerce and the Theatre.  It is highly suggested that people purchase tickets ahead of time, but they will also be available before each performance (if not sold out).  Tickets are $10 and should be purchased for a specific performance.
The following synopsis is quoted from the Music Theatre International website.
“‘Once upon a time, there was a little ogre named Shrek . . .’ And thus begins the tale of an unlikely hero who finds himself on a life-changing journey alongside a wisecracking Donkey and a feisty princess who resists her rescue.
Throw in a short-tempered bad guy, a cookie with an attitude and over a dozen other fairy tale misfits, and you've got the kind of mess that calls for a real hero. Luckily, there’s one on hand . . . and his name is Shrek.
Shrek presents a treasure trove of creative opportunities, including costumes, sets, puppets (there is a fire-breathing dragon after all) and more! Irreverently fun for the whole family, Shrek proves that beauty is truly in the eye of the ogre.”
