60th Annual Fine Arts Show

—Art, activities, music, wine tasting, drawing, food
CRESCO - The Cresco Fine Arts Council has hosted the event, one of the longest-running outdoor art shows in Iowa,  since it was established in 1961. This year, it takes place on Sunday, Aug. 1 from 9:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m.
Artists from around the Midwest gather at Cresco’s Beadle Park each year to showcase and sell their work.
There will be live performers, food vendors, demonstrations, wine tastings and children’s activities.
The public may sign up for the “Creative Cash” drawing and use the money toward an art purchase of their choice; participants must be present to win.
The art show also features guest musicians performing throughout the day. Food, drinks and pie are available.
Attendees to Cresco’s Fine Arts Show are invited to stop at the Cresco Chamber Flight Breakfast at Ellen Church Field south of Highway 9 West in Cresco from 7:30 a.m.-12 p.m. for omelets and pancakes before or after attending the art show.

Eckheart, Fine Arts Show judge
Douglas Eckheart, who was an art instructor at Luther College for 40 years, is the judge for the Fine Arts Show in Cresco. His own artwork expresses a love and deep appreciation for the subtle moods and mysteries found in nature as revealed through the ever-changing seasons.
By the time he retired from Luther in 2008, he had presented over 75 one-person exhibits and 40 group shows in New York City, Chicago and Des Moines, in addition to Malta and Norway.
