COVID can’t stop parade

—Impromptu parade congratulates McCarvilles
CRESCO - It’s a good bet that Steve and Kathy McCarville will never forget what happened in front of their house on Friday, Nov. 27, 2020 — an impromptu drive-by parade in their honor!
For anyone who has seen the movie, “It’s a Wonderful Life,” the scene at the McCarville’s house, between 5:15 p.m. and 5:45 p.m., was similar to the final scene in the movie when all of George Bailey’s friends gathered at his house to show their support.
Steve and Kathy were incredibly thankful and honored to see all the vehicles drive by their house and congratulate them on being named Grand Marshals of the 38th Annual Santa Parade.
The parade had been cancelled due to the governor’s proclamation banning outdoor gatherings of more than 30. But that didn’t stop a few rebels from having their own parade!
The consensus was “If McCarvilles can’t ride in the parade, we’ll bring the parade to them!”
When the couple saw the vehicles pull onto their street with horns honking, they were overcome with gratitude as hundreds of their closest friends and neighbors, in around 65 vehicles (cars, trucks, UTVs and a fire truck), congratulated them as Grand Marshals.
Some people taped well-wishing signs to their cars, some decorated their cars with Christmas lights, and others stopped to give them an appreciation gift for all they have done for Cresco over the years.
“The people in this community have been so great to us, and we can’t thank them enough!” Steve said.
