EMS seeking support in Howard County
Fri, 09/14/2018 - 1:24pm admin
The number of rural ambulances and volunteers has decreased significantly nationwide over the last decade. Iowa is no exception. In February of this year, the State of Iowa passed tax legislation to assist with this growing issue. The recently released Chapter 422D of Iowa Tax Code allows county supervisors to approve ballot measures in support of Emergency Medical Services.
Earlier in August, the Howard County Supervisors approved the tax measure. On Monday, Aug. 27 a public hearing was held. For those unable to attend the public hearing, the EMS Association of Howard County will present at the following City Council meetings:
Chester Tuesday, October 2, 7 p.m.; Cresco Monday, Sept. 17 7 p.m.; Elma Monday, Sept. 10 7 p.m.; Lime Springs Tuesday, Oct. 2 7 p.m.; Protivin Tuesday, Oct. 9, 7 p.m..; Riceville Monday, Oct. 8 6:30 p.m.
The vote to support EMS in Howard County will take place in November 2018.
