CRESCO - The town of Cresco will be all abuzz, (literally!) this Sunday, Aug. 5, as one, two, three and four-seater planes fly around and land at the local Ellen Church Field Airport.
Plane enthusiasts come from all around the tri-state area in anticipation of a hearty breakfast, served by volunteers of the Cresco Area Chamber of Commerce for this, the 37th annual, Fly-in Breakfast.
Many of the pilots like to get up in the air to check out the sunrise and then fly a few hours. Cresco is the perfect place to land, as there will be omelets and pancakes with all the fixings. Breakfast starts at 7:30 and goes until noon.
The pilots can park their planes and talk to the crowds who come to see the aircrafts, many of which are made from kits.
Visitors can get a great breakfast or brunch, while watching those wonderful flying machines come and go. There is also the opportunity to get a ride on a short flight for a fee.
This is one of the biggest fund-raising events sponsored by the Chamber, and proceeds go toward other fun events during the year, all with the hope of bringing visitors to the area.
