Grand winner of Christmas in Howard County

CRESCO - It’s better to give than to receive.
That might be the mantra of Cissy Thorpe of Cresco, who won the grand prize in the Christmas in Howard County Contest—over $1,000 in gift certificates from participating businesses!
She was busy being a nice little elf when she received a phone call from the Times Plain Dealer informing her she was the winner! At the time, she was delivering some hand-made items to the Clinic. “I also donate my last month’s magazines to the Clinic,” Thorpe said.
She enjoys making hand-crafted bath items, such as herbal lip balm and sugar scrubs and hand cleaners. In addition, she sews, quilts, paints and works with wood, although her husband, Steve does the construction of her creations.
The couple moved to Cresco October 2014 to be closer to their daughter and grandchildren, who will be receiving part of her winnings through dinners and other gifts she can get at the local businesses.
Getting $500 in gift certificates for second place was Kristi Tlusty of Calmar.
