Hit-and-run at The PlaceHit-and-run at The Place

PROTIVIN - The Howard County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a hit-and-run at The Place Sports Bar & Grill in Protivin.
According to a statement released by the Sheriff’s Office, on Saturday, March 7, 2020 at approximately 7:50 p.m., a 911 call was received from the establishment saying a vehicle struck the west side of the building by the back door.
The vehicle also struck another vehicle parked by the back door and left the scene.
The license plate of the vehicle had been torn off in the crash and left behind. It was learned the driver of the vehicle was Lisa Hurd of Waucoma, Iowa.
About four hours later, the driver was located in Chickasaw County, where she is facing separate charges.
There was substantial damage to The Place, another vehicle and Hurd’s vehicle. 
Due to the damage of the building, The Place posted on Facebook that is was closed for major repairs until further notice.
The post went on to say, “We are very lucky no one was injured or hurt in this accident! Thanks for all your support, and we hope you continue supporting us when we reopen.”
A patron of the business at the time of the accident said The Place was pretty full and felt the crash and wondered what happened.
Deputy Jacob Hofstra was the investigating officer and the incident is still being looked into.
