Housing rehabilitation grants now available

 

Northeast Iowa - Upper Explorerland Regional Planning Commission is accepting applications for housing rehabilitation\improvement projects. 
The Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines awarded UERPC $733,700 in funding to be used to assist 29 households with homeowner rehabilitation. Funding limits are set at a maximum of $23,000 per project and will be in the form of a secured grant. 
All projects funded must serve Allamakee, Clayton, Fayette, Howard or Winneshiek County households with incomes less than 80 percent of HUD income guidelines. Funding will be geared towards elderly and special needs households. 
Projects are directed toward an accumulation of deferred maintenance and/or needed replacement of principal fixtures and components of existing structures. The Homeowner Rehabilitation Program is being sponsored by Freedom Bank of Postville-Elkader-Monona.
Applications will be accepted by UERPC on a continuous basis. Applications can be obtained at the Upper Explorerland Office at 134 West Greene Street, Postville or by phone at 563-864-7551, ext. 106 or 101.
