Howard County accidents

Howard County - There were two automobile and one snowmobile accident, along with four vehicles in the ditch over the snowy weekend, according to Sheriff Mike Miner.
• At 2:11 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 18, a call was received that a car had been rear-ended by Highway 9 and Robin Ave. The vehicle took off on Robin Ave. It was a white Grand Prix, late 1990-early 2000 model. Hubcaps were missing. The Sheriff’s Dept. was unable to locate. Any information on the vehicle should be called into law enforcement, 563-547-3535.
• On Friday afternoon, Jan. 18, the Sheriff’s office was called to a three-car accident east of Cresco on Highway 9.
A 2003 Ford Focus driven by Tonya Delatorre was going eastward and attempted to turn into a private driveway. She turned in front of a westbound 2011 Nissan Altima driven by Shiloh Green.
Ms. Green’s car struck Ms. Delatorre’s car and came to rest in the north ditch. Delatorre’s car slid backward and struck another car, a 2008 Honda CRV, traveling eastbound, driven by Susan Hauber. She was uninjured and was able to drive away with $2,000 in damages.
Green and her passengers were not injured, but the car was totaled and was taken away by Don’s Towing of Decorah.
Ms. Delatorre was transported to Regional Health Services of Howard County with unknown injuries. Her passenger, Ricky Delatorre, was also transported to RHSHC with complaint of neck pain. The Delatorre vehicle was totaled and towed by Cresco Towing and Recovery.
• At 4:01 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 20, a snowmobile, driven by Dennis Carmer, age 44, of Ely, Iowa was traveling between Lime Springs and Casey’s. He was not riding the trail when he hit a waterway and flew off his sled. He was transported by Howard County Ambulance to be airlifted to an area hospital.
