Jean Doda receives cargiving award

CRESCO - The Iowa Health Care Association (IHCA) recognized the 2017 IHCA Excellence in Long Term Services and Supports (LTSS) Award recipients at its annual convention of long term services and supports providers on Sept. 27 in Des Moines. The Excellence in LTSS Awards recognize individuals’ expertise, service and commitment to quality in their long term services and supports professions.
Jean Doda, Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA), Evans Memorial Home, received the Excellence in LTSS Caregiving Award for Certified Nurse Assistant.
In her 40th year as a caregiver, Doda assists with restorative, medical records and the nursing department scheduling.
Doda is that dream staffer who is dependable, efficient and unfailingly punctual. She resolves conflicts and handles difficult situations with remarkable patience and tact—all traits that have made her a valued mentor for the CNAs she has guided to success over the years.
She is an active participant in the facility’s Employee Engagement Committee whose goal is to improve recruitment and retention. With her help, the committee has reduced staff turnover from 70 percent in 2015 to 12 percent in 2017. Doda also has played a role in the facility’s fall scene investigation and intervention program.
And, as if her commitment to Evans Memorial Home isn’t enough, Doda has been a foster parent to over 80 children and adopted two sets of twins. Her caring nature doesn’t have a shut-off valve.
Judges said “She has rolled with the changes and embraced it for over 40 years,” and “It’s clear – Jean is passionate about being compassionate.”
