Mighty Howard CountyFair Talent Show

CRESCO - Family, friends and fairgoers attended the first event of the Mighty Howard County Fair, the Talent Show, on Tuesday, June 21.
There were 10 acts, with participants ranging in age from six to 30. The age categories were 16 and below, and over 17.
The three judges, Danielle Chihak (Crestwood Color Guard coach), Weston Krug (Crestwood music teacher) and Kelly Bartling (Cresco Community Theatre), had difficult decisions in choosing first ($250), second ($100) and third ($50). They judged on skill and technical ability, stage presence and audience participation.
With just 10 acts, the winners were announced within an hour of the beginning of the show. They were, in first, Andrea Ruiz of Elma singing “I will always Love You.” Second was Braelyn McCarville (age 11) of Cresco singing “Hole in the Bottle,” with Uncle Kelly McCarville accompanying on the guitar. Third went to Kenzie Moellers and Emma Godman, both age 14 of Cresco, playing the piano duet “Walnut River Rag.”
Others participating included Genevieve Oppriecht, (six) of Cresco who sang “Call Me Maybe;” Macie Holthaus (seven) of Cresco, who sang, “The Show;” Macie Murphy (eight) of Cresco, who sang “Drivers License;” and Dayne Moellers, (nine) of Cresco played “Take Me out to the Ballgame” on the piano.
Teens and older included Adalynn Riley (13) of Cresco who sang, “Birthday Cake;” Skylar Sittig (14) of New Hampton, who did a solo act of dancing; and Annaleigh Shileny (20) of Cresco, who sang “I have Nothing.”
The contest was another success, so look for it next year at the Mighty Howard County Fair!
