Native girl returns home
Edwards  grew up in rural Lime Springs and graduated from Crestwood High School in 1987 and then from Luther College in 1991 with a BA in writing/literature and a minor in communications.
As she went out into the world, Edwards took her love of writing with her. After writing informally for years, she decided to write for publication. She started her writing business part-time in 2013, working evenings and weekends on her hobby/passion-turned-career.
After completing two novels, one with a publisher and one independently, she decided to help other writers achieve their goals. Her writing business took off full time on Aug. 26, 2016. “It was a great feeling having my life-long dream came true!” she said.
Edwards has already led creative writing workshops in the Dubuque area, where she recently resided, and is excited to get one started in Cresco, now that she recently moved back to the area.
“I want to make it fun. But,” she cautions, “there will be homework associated with the workshop. Practice is vital to the writing process.”
Besides working on a third novel, Edwards writes inspirational fiction and instructs her writing workshops. Her  business also offers conference and public speaking engagements, client mentoring and problem-solving solutions and graphic design and editorial services for authors.
In addition, she is involved with a writer’s group she founded called the Red Barn Writers’ Guild.
Currently, one of her favorite services is helping clients record their memoirs. “Memoir writing is a great way to share your life experiences with others, a wonderful gift for any family. It’s also a way to preserve the history of an area or community. Each project is unique in scope and subject matter.”
Visit her website for more information on any of these services.
Basically, Edwards is “write” where she wants to be . . . working with all her passions and fulfilling her childhood dream of being a writer.
Both of her novels, Rescuing Love, published under Carol Denekas and Seeds of Hope, published under Carol Edwards, can be found on Amazon.
