New events at NBHF

CRESCO - “It is wonderful to have an event during this pandemic,” said Jason Passmore of Howard County Business & Tourism. “I’m excited to see how a few new events will fit into Norman Borlaug Harvest Fest.”
Tractor Pull
Although it is new to NBHF, the Cresco Tractor Pull had been held for many years at Ag Fest. It is taking place at the Howard County Fairgrounds. Tractor Pulls have been the event to attend this summer as social distancing can take place without much trouble.
There will be some food and beverages available for purchase. The Pull starts at 10, with sign-up at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 19.
Running the event is the same crew who does the pull at Granger/Florenceville, and they get locals and other pullers from the tri-state region.
Painted Rock Hunt
The Howard County 4-H Council is in charge of displaying and hiding painted rocks around the downtown area. It is hoped there will be a list and clues available for participants to find the rocks. (Please do not keep them.)
This will take place from 3-6 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 19.

Outdoor Movie
Another new event for Cresco’s annual celebration is an outdoor movie. With football season upon us, the film being shown is “Remember the Titans.”
Cresco Theatre & Opera House has purchased a huge outdoor movie screen for events. This will be the second time it is being used. The screen will be put on Elm Street, in front of the courthouse. Movie-goers are encouraged to bring their lawn chairs as that will be the only seating available.
The Theatre will have popcorn and other goodies for sale on the street outside the building.
Sunday Breakfast
To fill a spot that was unfilled over the weekend, the Kiwanis and Heritage Events Center have partnered to have a curbside breakfast from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Center. This will help them make up some fund-raisers that have been unable to take place due to COVID-19.
Even though it is different, Norman Borlaug Harvest Fest will still take place! Enjoy what the celebration has to offer.
