Past surge at UIB

—Upper Iowa Beef tested three weeks ago
LIME SPRINGS - During Gov. Kim Reynolds’ press conference on May 13, Deputy Director of the Iowa Department of Public Health Sarah Reisetter stated Upper Iowa Beef in Lime Springs was another processing plant in the state of Iowa to have a coronavirus outbreak.
During that afternoon’s Regional Health Services of Howard County COVID-19 Community Partnership, CEO Robin Schluter and Howard County Director of Public Health Audrey Nosbisch gave a little more information on the local business.
Schluter stated, “The identification of the outbreaks was three weeks ago. Upper Iowa Beef did work with the state Dept. of Health, which immediately got us multiple testing kits. We did an all-day testing and tested additional employees off site.
“The employees at UIB have been in contact with Audrey at the Dept. of Public Health and are cooperating.”
Over 150 employees have been tested and many of the positive cases do not live in Howard County.
“We are past any type of surge at this point. If people have questions, they can call Upper Iowa Beef or the Dept. of Public Health,” Schluter said.
