Pony Express rides again!

Lime Springs Saddle Club started the annual Good Friday Pony Express Ride on the state line, continuing through Lime Springs and passing off their donation of $949 to Camp Sunnyside to the next group at Lourdes (approximately 20 miles).
Lynn Freerksen noted the next group is “a riding crew/bunch of friends out of the New Hampton area. They have been doing it for years.” The club was escorted by Sheriff Mike Miner.
Those participating this year included Jerrod and Dana Lund with daughters Laney and Riley; Tom Wendel; Clint McRoberts; Lynn Freerksen; Jeff Meeker; and Kenzie, Keira and Luke Shea (Dana and Carol Shea).
The first Pony Express Ride in the state took place in 1968 in northwest Iowa. Since then, it has taken place across the state to raise money for Camp Sunnyside in Des Moines. It is for children and adults with and without disabilities.
At right: It’s hard to believe these cute outlaws were able to rob CUSB Bank in Lime Springs, but they have the evidence — a donation check to Camp Sunnyside!
