Rasmusson’s love of tractors continues through A&W/ LJS Tractor Sunday, July 14

CRESCO - “He liked John Deere tractors. He’d do anything for a tractor.” That’s what Martha Rasmusson said of her late husband, Johnny.
He is the reason behind Tractor Sunday at A&W/Long John Silvers in Cresco. This year the annual event is being held on July 14 from 11 a.m.-2 p.m.
Owner of the establishment is encouraging anyone to bring their tractor (green, red, yellow, orange or blue) for the show and bring your families!
Johnny always loved tractors. He had a wagon for the grandkids, and he would give them rides every time they came to Grandma and Grandpa’s house. On one of the rides, he went to the A&W drive-through and ordered a wagon full of treats!
Johnny inherited his favorite John Deere Model A from the people who raised him, Wally and Phyllis Grooters. There is even a cancelled check around somewhere, but Martha couldn’t remember the amount.
When he passed in 2005, the tractor went to his son, Dean, who carries on the tradition of giving grandkids rides in the wagon. The tractor has even been driven to school by his grandson.
Rasmusson’s granddaughter, Ashten Frana is getting married on July 27 to Andy Lienhard, and pictures of Johnny and his tractor will be at the reception.
Martha is glad Wayne Mashek has kept the tradition of Tractor Sunday going as well. “It is a great way to get tractors into the community,” she said. “It’s wonderful of Masheks to keep this up.”
Portions of the proceeds from the day will go to HoCA.
