CRESCO - Mark your calendars! Cresco businesses are preparing for the annual Ridiculous Day on Thursday, July 16.
Get ready to SAVE, SAVE, SAVE!!! Great deals will be available all day long — from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.! North Elm Street will be closed in the downtown area to allow businesses to display their goods on the sidewalk and into the street.
Besides brick-and-mortar stores, other vendors will be set up along North Elm St. They include Liz Torgerson with 31 bags and purses; Lorri Pladsen with jams, crafts and jewelry; Darla Politowitz with jewelry and mixed media art; Jane Goldsworthy with soups and dips; Lona Ransden with die cast old-fashioned model cars; Autumn Nolan with hand-crafted jewelry; Tandy Perkins with Tupperware; Mimi Stone with antiques; and more are signing up daily.
There are plenty of choices for food all day long, as the four restaurants on Elm will be open for business, including Cuautla Jalisco Family Mexican Restaurant, CONEction, Atomic Pizza and the Fatty Wagon from Fat T’s restaurant.
A special treat will be the first event of the year featuring the Moo Mobile!
Entertainment will be in the downtown area from 2-4 with Tim’s Mobile Music and from 5-8 with Jarod Hogan Acoustic. Hogan has spent nearly 10 years in the Cedar Rapids music scene, playing cover songs as a solo acoustic act. “I feel that listeners are drawn to a natural presence on stage and sincere vocals,” he stated on his Facebook page.
In addition, the Times Plain Dealer is having the “My World” Photo Contest judged that day. Photos will be on display at the office at 214 N. Elm St. as soon as they are submitted and up until July 16.
