Phoenix - Robert ‘Bob’ Klingle, age 62, died in Phoenix, Ariz. after a valiant fight with prostate cancer. A celebration of life will be held in Louisville in the spring.
Born in Iowa City, Bob was the son of Dr. Francis Leroy and Mrs. Janis Peterson Klingle. He graduated from Duke University and remained a life-long Blue Devil basketball fan. He also attended Southern Methodist University Law School.
Bob grew up in Cresco, Iowa graduating from Crestwood High School in 1975. He made his mark in advertising and broadcasting while working in New York, Chicago, Fort Wayne, Louisville and Minneapolis.
Bob loved his family and his many friends across the country. He is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Jean Luecke Klingle and their two children, John and Kathryn. He is also survived by two brothers, John (Nancy) and Jim (Joyce); mother-in-law, Jane Luecke; brother-in-law, J. David (Deborah) Luecke; and five nieces and nephews, Andrea (Josh), D’Arcy (Ricardo), Jonathan (Laurel), Daniel and Joanna (Chase).
A celebration of Bob’s life will be held in Louisville in the spring. Those who so desire may make memorial gifts in Bob’s memory to the Cresco Public Library Foundation, 320 North Elm Street, Cresco, IA 52136.
