Stabbing at Elma results in arrest of Minn. man

ELMA - On Tuesday, Sept. 15, 2020 at 3:47 p.m., the Howard County Sheriff’s office received numerous calls about a female that had been stabbed in a vehicle on Busti Ave. in Elma, Iowa. There was a dispute between a man and woman.
An unnamed 29-year-old woman from New Jersey was cut on the finger by the passenger in her vehicle, Terry Roberts, 63, of Deer Creek, Minn.
Apparently, the two individuals were sitting in her car when Roberts grabbed a knife from the woman. She tried to get it back, grabbing the blade part and cut her finger.
Roberts was charged with assault with a dangerous weapon (aggravated misdemeanor), domestic assault (aggravated misdemeanor) and possession of contraband (Class D felony). He was booked into the Howard County Jail on $10,000 bond.
Assisting Deputies Wade Michels (who filed the charges), Ryan VanDewalker and Tim Beckman of the Sheriff’s Department were Iowa State Patrol, Riceville Ambulance, Regional Health Services of Howard County Ambulance, Howard County Sheriff’s Department and Howard County First Responders.
