—Lime Springs new center for H-W special election
HOWARD COUNTY - A new voting center has been added to the list of centers for the special Physical Plant and Equipment Levy (PPEL) election on March 2.
Lime Springs Community Center will be added to the Howard County Sheriff’s Office in Cresco and Elma Memorial Hall. In addition, those in Winneshiek County can vote at Ridgeway Community Center. All will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
The election is not an additional tax. It is one that has been in place since 2001. Howard-Winneshiek CSD is in the bottom one-third of districts asking for the levy. The maximum levy is $1.34. H-W is only asking for 67¢.
Absentee voting is taking place at the Howard County Auditor’s office through Monday, March 1.
