Two ways to shop, win
Wed, 11/07/2018 - 1:22pm admin
Howard County - Check out the two promotions taking place in Cresco and Howard County! Shoppers will share over $6,000 in gift certificates or Chamber Bucks. Use the extra “cash” to spend on your sweetie or go ahead and be selfish by getting yourself that little extra thing you’ve been wanting.
By shopping locally, individuals are helping the local economy and getting a chance to win prizes or cash! How cool is that?!
1. Visit local businesses = ‘Jingle in Your Pocket’
Once again the Cresco Area Chamber of Commerce is offering its annual ‘Jingle in Your Pocket’ promotion, starting Nov. 9.
Each Friday, between Nov. 23 and Dec. 14, 10 winners will receive $100 in Chamber bucks. That adds up to $1,000 each week, for a total of $4,000 to be given away!
One must spend at least $40 at any participating Cresco Area Chamber business to receive one entry form. The entry form can then be dropped off at the Chamber of Commerce, Cresco Bank & Trust or CUSB Bank, who are the sponsors this year.
Drawings will take place:
Nov. 23: Courthouse Lawn Lighting, 5 p.m.
Nov. 30: Cresco Chamber, 10 a.m.
Dec. 7: Cresco Bank & Trust, 10 a.m.
Dec. 14: CUSB Bank, 10 a.m.
Winners will be announced via Cresco Chamber Members’ social media, as well as in the Times Plain Dealer.
“The purpose is not only to encourage shopping Cresco and shopping local, but as a thank-you to the community that shops Cresco on a daily basis,” Explained Howard County Business and Tourism Executive Director Jason Passmore, “We encourage shoppers to shop early because the odds of winning are greater with fewer entries.”
The Chamber Bucks can only be spent at Chamber businesses, but that still leaves a lot of shopping to look forward to!
2. Christmas Gift Giveaway
A great way to shop and win is to visit participating stores of the Howard County Christmas Gift Giveaway, sponsored by Cresco Times Plain Dealer! Starting now, through Dec. 21, shoppers can get their ticket punched for a chance to win $25-$50 gift certificates from the businesses.
Every time a person shops at a business, he or she can get a ticket stamped, whether $1.00 is spent or $99! But spend $100 and get the entire card stamped. For every four stamps, the card can be turned in. Each week, 2-4 gift certificates will be drawn from the tickets turned in. On Dec. 21 at noon, one grand prize winner will receive $1,000 in gift certificates from participating businesses. Second prize is $500 in gift certificates.
Times Plain Dealer Publisher, Dan Evans notes, “It’s just another way to get people to shop locally. Help support them in their businesses as they support this community.” He urges shoppers to make sure and check out the ads each week in the Times Plain Dealer as they will list open houses and new specials.
Participating businesses include A&W/Long John Silvers, Billmyer Furniture & Flooring, The County Store & Store Next Door, Cresco Bicycles, Elm Street Gifts, Fisk Farm & Home, Golden Ridge Mercantile, Holstrom Gift & Jewelry, Leutholds, McAllister’s Catering & Heritage Events Center, O’Henry’s Stitches & Prints, Outdoors & More, The Ox & Wren Spirits & Gifts, Quilter’s Garden, Plantpeddler, Polashek’s Locker of Protivin, Ruppert Ace Hardware, Shopko Hometown, Studio 9, Sue-Z-Qs, Times Plain Dealer and Unique Boutique.
