CRESCO - After much consideration and with the most recent and continued recommendations to limit mass gatherings during the COVID 19 pandemic, the county veterans associations, made up of Cresco American Legion Posts #135 Legion Riders and VFW Post #4561 have decided to cancel this year’s military banquet, usually scheduled for Veterans Day weekend.
Due to this cancellation and that of the Bingo tent during the cancelled 2020 Mighty Howard Country Fair, it’s been impossible to hold a regular fund-raiser, which is used for American Legion Scholarships each year.  As many as six high school graduates each year benefit from these scholarships.
Cresco American Legion Commander Cindy Yslas said, “It’s imperative that we find alternate ways to fulfill this financial need. With this in mind, the Cresco Legion has established a raffle of a handmade patriotic quilt, handmade quilt rack, handmade butcher’s block, handmade wooden vase and other prizes from local venders.”
These items will be on display at 2 Chicks in a Barn/Furniture Redo on North Elm and tickets are available there and from any American Legion member.  Tickets are $3.00 each, two for $5.00 and 10 for $20.
Drawings will be on Veteran’s Day, Wednesday, Nov. 11. You need not be present to win.  For further questions or for tickets, please contact Yslas at 719-237-6102.
