CRESCO - Alton Peterson, age 87, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 1, 2020 at his home in Cresco, Iowa.
According to his wishes, Altons’s body was gifted to the University of Iowa Deeded Body Program. Hindt-Hudek Funeral Home in Cresco is in charge of arrangements.
Alton Peterson was born on March 12, 1933 to Oliver and Annie (Solien) Peterson in Iowa City, Iowa. He attended elementary and high school in the Highlandville area. On June 8, 1957, he married Eldie Flatland in Las Vegas, Nev. To this union, three children were born, Kerry, Mark and Julie.
After many years in the banking industry in the Los Angeles and San Francisco areas, Alton and Eldie moved to Paso Robles, Calif., where his real passion was landscaping and maintenance; he truly enjoyed working with the earth. The couple moved to Cresco in 2004. He loved spending time with his family and enjoyed getting together with friends and family.
Alton is survived by his sons, Kerry Peterson of Cresco and Mark (Ronda) Peterson of Paso Robles; a daughter, Julie Ringer of Cresco; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sisters, Lorraine Ellickson of Marietta, Calif. and Carol Bolson of Decorah, Iowa; one brother, Robert Peterson of Cedar Falls, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Eldie; his parents; parents-in-law; and sisters, Beulah Shindelar and Sylvia Roberts.
