Edith Ann Oelberg was born on Oct. 9, 1962 in New Hampton to Dr. Christian and Arlene (Anderson) Oelberg. She attended Elma Elementary School and graduated from Crestwood High School in 1981. She attended Iowa State University, graduating in 1985 with her Bachelors (BS) in Journalism.
Edith moved to Boston, Mass. to begin her career as a journalist for a newspaper. Seven years later, she moved to Minneapolis, Minn., where she was a technical writer for American Express. It is during this time that she met and began a long-distance relationship with Roger Lenehan. The two were united in marriage on Feb. 14, 1998 at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Lourdes, Iowa. They made their home on the Lenehan family farm near New Hampton. A year later, the couple was gifted with a beautiful daughter, Nadine.
Edith was employed at IBM in Rochester, Minn. as a technical writer for the past 22 years, retiring in the fall of 2019.
She enjoyed the great outdoors, especially kayaking, traveling and spending time with her family and friends. Edith made being active look easy. She coordinated countless community and church events, along with extensive volunteering, all while working full-time and being a highly-dedicated wife, mom and daughter to those she loved most. She was a Girl Scout Leader and a life-long member of Elma United Methodist Church, where she filled many key roles. She found great joy as a member of the Eastern Star, where she was Grand Adah.
Edith is survived by her husband, Roger of New Hampton; daughter, Nadine Lenehan (fiancé Jerod Westemeier) of New Hampton; mother, Arlene Oelberg of Elma; sister, Karen Karim of Elma; brother, Jim Oelberg of Clinton, Iowa; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Dr. Christian E. Oelberg, and an infant nephew, Aslam Karim.
