Juanita Grimm, 91

CRESCO - Juanita Ruth (Fye) Grimm, age 91, a lifelong resident of Cresco, Iowa, died on March 17, 2021. 

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, March 23, 2021 at Notre Dame Catholic Church in Cresco, with Father Jacob Rouse officiating. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 9-11 a.m. prior to the funeral. Burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery following the luncheon at McCallister Catering. Due to COVID-19, masks are recommended and please follow social distancing rules at the church.

Juanita was born on May 1, 1929, to Blanche (Jeffers) Fye and Walter Fye. She graduated from Cresco High School in 1946. After graduation, she married Sylvester “Nick” Grimm on Sept. 18, 1946. To this union five children were born.

The couple owned and operated Grimm’s Superette and later, Grimm’s Market in Cresco for 25 years. Afterward, she assisted at the County Veteran’s Affairs office when needed. 

Juanita loved music, dances, family meals and celebrations of all kinds. She cherished her family, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed playing the card game 500 and was an avid coin and stamp collector. She will always be remembered for her wonderful sense of humor. 

Juanita will be dearly missed. Something to remember her by is — People die but memories and the love we have for them never dies. 

Surviving Juanita are her children, Ron (Rita) of Cedar Falls, Iowa, Tom (Marcia) of Prairie City, Iowa, Randy (Cathy) Plover of Wisconsin and Lori Bakken of Colorado Springs, Colo.; 11 grandchild-ren; 18 great-grandchildren; and sister, Barbara (Gene) Cleghorn of Waseca, Minn. 

Preceding her in death were her son, Mike, and her brother, Bernard Cleveland.
