CHESTER - LaDene Kay (Lang) Reed, age 71, of Chester, Iowa, died on Nov. 3, 2021, after a month-long battle with COVID-19, at St. Marys, Mayo Clinic, Rochester Minn.
LaDene was born in Enid, Okla. on Jan. 20, 1950 to Edward and Dorothy Lang. Her family moved to Hastings, Minn. when she was 13 years old.
After graduating from Hastings High School in 1968, she studied nursing at Rochester State Junior College, where she met Bill. After graduating in 1971, the couple were married in 1972 and lived initially in Anoka, Minn. and then settled in St. Paul, Minn. Retiring after 30 years as a Registered Nurse from St. Joseph’s Hospital in 2008, they moved to Chester.
LaDene enjoyed sewing, reading, snorkeling, fossil and agate hunting, watching mystery shows, perusing rummage sales and traveling – both nationally and internationally. However, LaDene was happiest when visiting her four grandsons, Jackson (2003), Caleb (2005), Cameron Dingler (2008) and Kai Dingler (2013).
She is survived by her husband, Bill Reed; daughter, Laura Reed (Noah Dingler); son, Dr. Bryan (Jessica) Reed; mother, Dorothy (Nobis) Lang; sister, LaDonna (Lang) Joseph; sister, Cheryl Lang (Tom Steinmueller); and niece, Crystal Joseph.
Preceding her in death was her father, Edward Lang.
