FLORENCEVILLE - Loretta Leitz, age 97, of Florenceville, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, July 23, 2022 at Evans Memorial Home in Cresco, Iowa.

Graveside services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, July 29, 2022 at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Cemetery in rural Granger, Minn. Lindstrom Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. 

Loretta Vivian Leitz was born on Feb. 3, 1925 to Charles and Ida (Anway) Stevenson. She attended country school, completing the eighth grade. 

On Dec. 27, 1954, she married Paul Leitz and together they made their home in Waterloo, Iowa. Loretta was a seamstress, making athletic uniforms while employed with Powers Manufacturing. 

The couple spent most weekends at their acreage in Florenceville. Upon retirement they moved there permanently. 

Loretta enjoyed sewing, playing cards (especially 500) and going on occasional bus trips with her sister-in-law, Rosie Stevenson. She loved a good slice of pie — raisin cream was her favorite. And she always looked forward to times when friends and relatives would stop for a visit. Loretta was a member of St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church in Granger. 

Survivors include Loretta’sdaughter, Carol (Glenn) Steege of Marion, Iowa; three grandchildren, Matt (Jessi) Steege of Marion, Jeanne (Jim) Frye of Harmony, Minn. and Lisa (Bryon) Wilson of Shellrock, Iowa; five great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren, along with several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul in 2000; a son, Reed Stevenson; and three brothers, Russell, Wayne and Charles.
