OHIO - Mavis Aldred Clynch, age 79, passed away on July 20, 2022, at Licking Memorial Hospital in Newark, Ohio, from cancer.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, August 12, 2022, at Newark Memorial Gardens mausoleum, with Pastor Wally McLaughlin officiating.
Mavis “Mae” was born on March 10, 1943, in Peterborough, England.
She was a beloved wife, mother, nanny, great nanny, aunt and friend to many. Throughout her life, Mavis served as a role model for many as an archaeologist, an artist, a calligrapher, a gardener, a lace maker, a knitter and a veracious learner and teacher.
Perhaps most importantly, Mavis was a treasured loyal and fiercely loving friend, nanny and mum.
She married Gerald “Jerry” Clynch on Aug. 29, 1964. Their love was, without question, a storybook story. As the wife of a U.S. Air Force career man, she lived in many U.S. states and England, where she paved the way for beautiful friendships, incredible adventures for her children and an indefatigable love and curiosity for all her experiences.
Mavis is survived by her four children, Steven (Karin) Clynch, Eileen (David) Hanson, David Clynch and DiAnna (Patrick) Palmer; multiple treasured grandchildren and great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; her brothers, David (Betty) and Babs Aldred; and her sisters-in-law, Anne Marie, Patricia and Dorothy Clynch.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jerry; her sister, Bernice Aldred; and sisters-in-law, Doreen Aldred and Gladys Nelson.
Mavis was an incredibly charitable woman who leaves behind many friends and relatives all over the world, and she loved each and every one of them. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the cancer research of your choice and think of Mavis.
