Nov. 3, 2021

DEERBROOK - Richard “Dick” Peldo, age 86, of Bass Lake, Deerbrook, Wis., passed away on Nov. 3, 2021.
A memorial service will be planned for a future date when it is safe to gather. Bradley Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Dick was born in Emmetsburg, Iowa on Oct. 9, 1935 and graduated from Cresco High School and the University of Iowa with a degree in Business. He was married to his wife, Jane, for 62 years.
Dick served in the United States Navy from 1958-1961 and Naval Reserve from 1961-1968, retiring as a Lieutenant Commander. After a long career in marketing for Wisconsin Bell, ATT and Ameritech, he retired to Bass Lake and Montgomery, Texas, playing golf throughout the year and keeping close tabs on the stock market.
An avid sports fan, he loved his Iowa Hawkeyes and would cheer on the Badgers except when they played Iowa. Growing up in a small town in Iowa as an only child, he learned the value of knowing your neighbors and local business people.
He was a member of Antigo Elks Lodge #662. He enjoyed his connections to people, and if he knew you, he had given you an interesting nickname.
Dick is survived by his wife, Jane Peldo;  three children, Lynne Hohlfeld, Krista Rodriguez and Jay Peldo; and five grandchildren, Joseph Hohlfeld, Margaret Hohlfeld, Andrew Hohlfeld, Oliva Rodriguez and Haley Peldo.
He was preceded in death by a son, Robert Peldo.
