Ronna Beckmann, 75

EDINBURG - Ronna Lou Beckmann, age 75, of Edinburg, Texas, died on June 11, 2020, at Doctors Hospital at Renaissance in Edinburg of surgical complications.

According to her wishes, Ronna will be cremated with no services to follow. Memorials may be directed to your local food bank.

She was born on July 3, 1944, in Washington, Iowa to John Robert Barnhart and Hazel Mae Crawford.

Ronna moved with her parents from Crawfordsville, Iowa to Tipton, Iowa in 1960. She graduated from Tipton High school in 1962. Following graduation, she attended St. Luke’s Methodist Hospital School of Nursing in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, where she graduated in 1965. 

She married Raymond Beckmann on Aug. 29, 1965. After their marriage, Ronna worked at the MHI in Independence, Iowa. Ray completed his senior year of college at Upper Iowa University in Fayette, Iowa. After his graduation, they moved to the Cresco, Iowa area, where he taught school and farmed. 

Ronna was employed at a mental health center. She continued her career at Evans Memorial Home and Howard County Hospital in Cresco. She spent the last 15 years of her career at the Mayo Medical Center in Rochester, Minn.

She was a loving daughter, wife, mother and grandmother. She was an avid golfer, bridge player and reader. Ronna loved spending her winters with Ray at Palmhurst, Texas from 2000 to 2015, at which time, they moved permanently to Edinburg.

She is survived by her loving husband, Raymond Henry Beckmann; a son, Brooke Robert Beckmann; two granddaughters, Hana Ray Beckmann and Zoey Jade Beckmann, all of Portland, Ore.; a brother, Jerald (Margo) Barnhart of Greeley, Colo.; her mother-in-law, Mary Beckmann of Mechanicsville, Iowa; and her brothers-in-law, Thomas (Ruth) Beckmann of Tipton and John (Roxie) Beckmann of Mechanicsville.

Ronna is preceded in death by her parents, John and Hazel Barnhart, and her father-in-law, Vernon Henry Beckmann.

Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg.
