Cadets 10, Osage 0
Crestwood held a 3-0 lead after four innings before erupting for six runs in the fifth during a 10-0 win over Osage on May 31.
“Before the game, we emphasized to the team that we needed to play seven good innings, and we did,” Steffen said. “Gabe Grabau threw strikes on the mound, and we made the plays on defense. All-around, our defense was sound, which made Gabe’s job easier on the mound.
“Offensively, we hit the ball well. Colter Bye led us at the plate with a triple, two singles, two RBI and three stolen bases. Grabau executed a good squeeze bunt. We had nine stolen bases as a team. It was fun to see our young guys develop,” Steffen said.
Grabau nailed down the win as he went six strong innings, allowed only two hits, one walk and struck out four.
Colter Bye tallied three hits, including one triple, three runs, two RBI and three stolen bases. Jon Henry had two hits. Carter Henry tallied one double, two runs and two stolen bases.

Carter Henry and Colter Bye each had one single. Reid Wiley had one hit and one run. Kade Munkel had one double. Gabe Grabau scored one run.

Facing Turkey Valley in game one on June 2, several errors on defense hurt the Cadets as Turkey Valley won, 9-0.
“Going into Saturday, I was concerned about how much pitching we’d have after playing four games earlier in the week,” Steffen said. “Reid Wiley was our starting pitcher, and I was happy he pitched. Unfortunately, we had a lot of errors on defense and only one hit on offense. Bryden Juelsgaard pitched well in relief.
“Offensively, we need to be more ready to hit the ball. We have a lot of guys guessing when to swing the bat,” Steffen said.
Shane Vokaty had one single in the first inning to account for Crestwood’s only hit.
Reid Wiley was the losing pitcher. He went five innings, allowed seven hits, six runs (two earned), one walk and struck out five. Bryden Juelsgaard tossed two innings, allowed five hits, three runs (two earned), one walk and struck out three.

Playing South Winn on June 2 at home, the Cadets took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first before the Warriors scored seven runs in the bottom of the first on their way to a 10-2 win.
“We took an early lead in the top of the first before things fell apart in the bottom of the first,” Steffen said. “South Winn had good pitching and hitting, but we put ourselves in a hole with our errors on defense.
“Of the 10 runs South Winn scored, nine of them were unearned runs. Ashton McConnell threw strikes relieving starter Jon Henry. On defense, we need to work more on our fielding and making good throws,” Steffen said.
Shane Vokaty had one hit, one run and two stolen bases. Jon Henry tallied one hit. Carter Henry had one stolen base. Hunter Bye scored one run.
Jon Henry was the losing pitcher. He tossed two-thirds of an inning, allowed five hits, seven runs (one earned), two walks and struck out one. McConnell pitched five and one-third innings, allowed six hits, three runs (no earned runs), one walk and struck out two.
