Decorah 76, Cadets 51
Playing at Decorah on Jan. 9, the Cadets were unable to slow down the Vikings as Decorah won, 76-51.

Cadet Head Coach Lynn McCormick said the difference in the game was Decorah’s stout field goal shooting.
“In the first half, we gave up 41 points to Decorah, but our defense wasn’t bad,” McCormick said. “We had our hands in their face when they shot the ball, but Decorah was just hot shooting the ball. They hit 11 three-pointers in the first half. It was just one of those nights where Decorah made almost all of their shots.”

Hosting Oelwein Friday, the Cadets held a slim 17-9 halftime edge before out-scoring the Huskies 38-21 in the second half en route to a 55-30 win.
Coach Lynn McCormick said solid shooting made a difference in the second half.
“We hit some more shots in the second half,” McCormick noted. “Overall, our defense effort was great. I have to give kudos to Shane Vokaty. We only allowed nine points in the first half and 30 for the entire game.
“Jacob Andera and Nathan Martinek both hit some big three-pointers for us. Clayton Ollendieck ran the floor well, and we got the ball to him when we needed to. This was a great team defensive effort, and we got some timely baskets on offense, too,” McCormick said.
