“The main key for us was our shooting, which was phenomenal,” Cadet Coach Doug Sickles said. “We hit 11 of 15 three-pointers, and we moved the ball well. In all aspects, we were clicking. I was extremely happy with that.”

Cadets 56, Kee 34
The Kee Hawks kept the score close through the first period before the Cadets pulled away late to earn the win and improve their record to 4-0.
Crestwood led 6-5 with 4:26 left in the first period before ending the quarter on an 11-2 run to take a 17-7 lead into the second quarter. Crestwood went on a 15-8 run in the second quarter to take a 32-15 halftime lead. Kee was unable to rally in the second half as the Cadets won by 22 points.
Sickles said defense was a big key to the win against a tough Kee squad.
“Kee is a good team, and we knew that going into the game,” Sickles said. “Our defense really kept us in the game. Our offense was sloppy at times, but I credit Kee because they made our offense sloppy. They didn’t let us run what we wanted to run (on offense).
“This game was a good test for our kids. We needed this kind of game after winning our first three games easily. We needed to compete in a game like this. Our girls made some shots in the first half when we needed them, and they are not afraid to share the ball. They are very unselfish, and I’m proud of them for that,” Sickles said.
Sharon Goodman led the Cadets in scoring with 20 points, and she had six rebounds. Shannon Pisney tallied 17 points, including three three-pointers, had six rebounds, four assists and two steals.

Cadets 62, C.C. 21
Crestwood built a 22-point lead after one period, pushed the lead to 43-8 at halftime and sailed to a 62-21 win over Charles City Friday at home.
Coach Sickles said the Cadets’ defense was a big factor in the win.
“Our pressure defense really hurt Charles City in the first half,” Sickles said. “In the second half, we kind of quit playing, but it can be hard to keep up the intensity when you have a big lead at halftime.
“But in the first half, I was extremely pleased with all of our girls in all of the aspects of the game. We finished the game with 21 assists and 18 steals, which is not bad. I’m happy with that. Every one of our players did an extremely good job,” Sickles said.
Sharon Goodman paced the Cadets with 23 points. Shannon Pisney tallied 15 points, including one three-pointer. Emily Friesen had six points.
Kaylee Thomas had five points, including one three-pointer. Ellie Friesen had four points. Brynn Bodermann posted five points. Brooklyn Ferrie and Laken Lienhard each had two points.
