No. 3 NH-TV wrestling team wins section title, 10 advance to districts

DECORAH - The No. 3 New Hampton-Turkey Valley wrestling team chalked up several stout performances at the Class 2A Sectional Tournament on Feb. 2 en route to a first place team finish with 243.5 points.
By finishing in the top two at Sectionals, NH-TV has qualified for the Region Dual Team Tournament on Feb. 5 at 6 p.m. in New Hampton. NH-TV will face No. 32. Mount Vernon in the semifinals on Feb. 5. The winner will face either No. 20 Independence or No. 25 Hampton-Dumont in the finals for a berth in the State Team Duals, which will be on Feb. 13 in Des Moines.
At the Sectional Tournament on Feb. 2, 10 NH-TV individuals finished in the top two to qualify for the District Tournament on Feb. 9 in Independence. First place finishers at sectionals included: Mason Cleveland (126), Carson Babcock (138), Max Babcock (145), Hunter Pesek (152), Cameron Rasing (160), Evan Rosonke (182) and Carter Reicks (195). Second place finishers included: Jonathan Dreckman (113), Brayden Anderson (132) and Tom Clark (285).
Team standings: 1. NH-TV 243.5; 2. Crestwood 228; 3. North Fayette Valley 181.5; 4. Decorah 149; 5. Oelwein 116; 6. Waukon 58.
