No. 3 St. Ansgar trips Trojan girls' team in region final

NEW HAMPTON - After a tight first half, the Class 1A No. 3 St. Ansgar girls' basketball team pulled away late in the second half to defeat the Turkey Valley Trojans, 56-46, in the Class 1A Region 3 Final on Feb. 24 in New Hampton. The score was tied at 19-all at halftime before the Saints went on an 18-9 run in the third period. The loss ended Turkey Valley's season with an impressive 19-6 overall record. St. Ansgar (22-1) will advance to play Montezuma (22-1) in the first round of the Class 1A State Tournament on March 3 at 8 p.m. at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines.
