Turkey Valley's Jalyssa Blazek takes sixth at State Cross Country Meet.

FORT DODGE - Turkey Valley freshman Jalyssa Blazek proved she can compete with best runners in Iowa as she placed sixth in 19:59.3 seconds at the Class 1A State Cross Country Meet on Oct. 27 at Lakeside Golf Course to earn All-State honors.
Trojan sophomore Jaycie Bryne competed well at the State Meet on Saturday as she took 40th place in a time of 21:21.2 seconds.
Turkey Valley Head Coach Sarah Bakula was extremely happy with the way both Trojan runners competed against the best of the best at the State Meet on Saturday.
“They both performed well,” Bakula said. “They are both young, so to accomplish getting to State and placing so high is a wonderful way to cap of the season.
“I was impressed with the way they both got out and put themselves where they wanted to be, the way they competed and the way they finished.  We set some goals and they did their best to accomplish those goals.  Jalyssa was just off of her goal of a top five finish, but taking sixth is still an awesome place,” Bakula said.
