‘Brady’s Brilliance’ is celebrated in Cresco

CRESCO - Brady Mikkelson has been a cherished part of the Cresco community since birth. Despite life's challenges, he has never let them define him. With his vibrant spirit, Brady has inspired countless individuals, demonstrating the power of unconditional love.

 Over the years, Brady has made limitless numbers of friends in the Cresco community. In addition to working at Fareway Grocery Store and Crestwood High School for many years, he also helped Joe Haskovec broadcast Crestwood football and basketball games on KCZQ Radio in Cresco for over 20 years before retiring this past January. 

 Now, his extraordinary journey is captured in the book, “Brady's Brilliance,” thanks to the dedication of his sister, Tara. She began by penning a journal but soon realized that Brady's story deserved to be shared with the world. Just two months after her writing journey began, “Brady's Brilliance” came to life, reflecting not only Brady's experiences but also the unwavering love of a community.

 In a remarkable act of giving, Brady and Tara have established the “Brady's Brilliance Scholarship,” funded by a portion of the book's proceeds. This scholarship will honor students not by their grades, but by their commitment to personal growth and community service. Tara envisions this as an enduring legacy, with Brady himself presenting the award.

 On July 2, 2025, Brady and his family hosted two inspiring book signings in Cresco. The first took place at Fareway Grocery Store, where Tara and Brady proudly sold around 200 books. Their next event at Atomic Pizza was equally successful. The overwhelming support they received left them genuinely amazed and filled with gratitude.

 Many have inquired about a sequel, and Tara's enthusiasm is palpable: “I really hope I can do another book. This one was so fun to write.” One suggestion for a children's book sparked even more excitement, hinting at new possibilities ahead.
