CRESCO - On Sunday, May 18th, Crestwood High School in Cresco proudly celebrated the graduation of the Class of 2025. Surrounded by family, friends, and faculty, 80 seniors walked across the floor to receive their diplomas, marking the culmination of 13 years of dedication and academic achievement.
The ceremony began as Ms. Kim Becker played the processional, setting a heartfelt tone as the graduates entered the gymnasium. The students walked a ceremonial path around the crowd before taking their seats for the commencement program.
Superintendent Mr. Kris Einck welcomed those in attendance and introduced members of the school board to both the graduates and their families.
Delivering the first commencement address was senior Kyla Butikofer, who reflected on the lasting bonds formed during high school and offered heartfelt advice to the underclassmen in the audience. "The last four years truly went by in the blink of an eye, and I can confidently say I know I'm going to miss it," she shared.
The Concert Chorale, which included six graduating seniors, gave a moving performance of "A Million Dreams" from The Greatest Showman, adding a musical highlight to the day's festivities.
Senior Olivia Bruns, who humbly referred to herself as the "quiet girl", delivered a poignant second address, capturing bittersweet emotions shared by many. "Sometimes you don't realize you're living in the good old days until they've passed, and in some ways, I think that is exactly how we all feel right now," Bruns reflected. "This is not the end; it's just the beginning of something different."
Principal Ms. Lisa Dursky took a moment to recognize the Class of 2025's top academic achievers. Valedictorians Aubrey Mannery and Brooke Schwade, along with Salutatorians Lydia Williams and Olivia Bruns, were honored for their outstanding accomplishments. Dursky also announced that the valedictorians would be awarded the prestigious Bouska Valedictorian Scholarship, sponsored by Crestwood's "Dollar for Scholars" program.
