—Work to begin soon, donations still being accepted
CRESCO - Park Director Bill Caffrey announced the East Park Bleacher Project is moving forward after coming to a stall this year of COVID.
“Originally I was going to work on this about 6-8 months ago, but with the Covid issues etc., it got postponed. Construction is scheduled to start soon, and I want to go forward and finish up the fundraising phase of the project,” Caffrey stated.
He added that although he has plans to retire in August 2021, he will see this project through to the end.
The goal of the project is $50,000, not including landscaping. So far, there have been donations of $34,679.
The big part of the project is putting in cement steps and riser into the side of the hill directly behind home plate. It will be 30 feet wide and 26 feet deep, with a shelter over the top.
The plan is to have 10 rows of aluminum seats that will have a capacity of about 120 fans. The seating will be more ADA compatible, with a sidewalk to the concession stand and room to sit on the sidewalk with a wheelchair.
There are different levels of recognition for donations:
Grand Slam — $2,500-plus
Home Run — $1,000
Triple — $500
Double — $250
Single — $100
Walk — $50
Hit by Pitch — $?
