Flag Replacement program starting

CRESCO - Do you have a torn or fraying United States flag? Now is your chance to replace that flag with a new one and donate the old flag for a flag retirement ceremony at the same time.
The Cresco American Legion Post 135 and Boy Scouts Troop 63 are working together on the  Flag Replacement Project.
For $40, residents will receive a “Made in America” flag, which will be replaced, starting June 12. The local boy scout troop will do the work for you.
The old flag will be taken to the flag retirement ceremony being held at Evans Park on Flag Day, June 14.
To purchase a new flag, residents can pick up a form at Cresco Fitness Center’s front desk during open hours (5 a.m.-9 p.m. on Monday-Friday; 9 a.m.-6 p.m. on Saturday; and 1-6 p.m. on Sunday).
Forms are due by May 31 to make sure enough are ordered to start replacement on June 12.
For more information, contact T.J. Casper at 563-880-0023.
The Flag Replacement Program is how members of Troop 63 raise funds to attend summer camp, which is one of the highlights of the scouts’ year. It also helps to offset the cost of the annual re-chartering fees.
Besides the flag program, scouts sell popcorn in the fall, clean up the grand stand and grounds at the Mighty Howard County Fair and other community services.
