Genealogy Society uses grant to preserve Beadle Bible

Howard-Winneshiek Genealogy Society, with the help of  a City of Cresco Travel and Tourism grant, had a box made to preserve and display the Beadle family Bible. 

The Bible, on extended loan, was given to the Genealogy Society and the Cresco Public Library by Judge John McKay, great-great grandson of Augustus and Eliza Beadle, founder of Cresco, last summer during the town's Sesquicentennial celebration. The Bible, published in Philadelphia in 1815, contains the marriage records of Augustus' parents Daniel and Clara (Powers) Beadle and the birth records of Augustus and his brother John Henry.
