CRESCO - Local schools ventured out to the Norman Borlaug farm to learn from experts about plants, history, and the legacy of Norman Borlaug. With over 300 students attending over the span of two days, the Norman Borlaug Foundation Board Members worked tirelessly to keep everything running smoothly.
Students were able to explore the grounds including the various barns, the old schoolhouse, and even one of the homes.
Excited chatter buzzed as children were lead through the prairie and shown different types of plants. Students were taught how to package meals to donate to schools and learned the importance of hard work to provide for the community.
Beautiful weather graced the lunch break, as the students discussed all the different activities they participated in during the field trip.
Preserving the legacy of Dr. Norman Borlaug for the local communities is important, as it highlights deep cultural beliefs of family values, farming, and hard work. Working in a rural community, it takes effort to save the land and towns that have stood for over 100 years.
