CRESCO — In a delightful nod to community spirit, Cresco has chosen Paul and Jayne Jensen as the Grand Marshals for this year’s Santa Parade, a decision that has brought smiles and excitement throughout the town. While the Jensens may not be the traditional story of local born and raised honorees—Paul hails from Wisconsin and Jayne from Nebraska have been long time residents of the community, residing here for about 25 years—their journey to Cresco and their contributions to the community tell a story of connection, commitment, and care.
The couple met while attending college, and after Paul completed his residency in Mason City, a suggestion from an administrative colleague led them to Cresco. Captivated by the town’s charm, they decided to make it their home. “The rest is history,” Jayne reflected. “We fell in love with this community.” After training, Howard County is the only community Paul has practiced in.
The couple has made a significant impact on Cresco over the years. Paul, a trusted doctor at Regional Health Services of Howard County, has dedicated himself to caring for locals and is set to retire on January 2 after years of tending to patients in the clinic, working in the ER, delivering babies, assisting patients and families in hospice, and also serving as the medical examiner in the past. Jayne has been an active member of the community, contributing her talents to the local theater, co-owning a business downtown for over 10 years, and initiating programs like Friends of the Library.
