Meet the 2025 MHCF Queen Candidates

CRESCO - As the vibrant and much-anticipated Mighty Howard County Fair approaches, committee members are thrilled to introduce the talented candidates vying for the title of Fair Queen! This year four remarkable young women will vie for the crown, each brimming with enthusiasm and prepared to take on this prestigious role. The young lady who earns the title of “Fair Queen” will not only be a representative of the fair, but also serve as an inspiring ambassador and role model for the county, embodying the spirit of joy and togetherness that the fair represents. Each candidate has taken the time to craft a heartfelt bio to share their journey and aspirations with all of us. Let's take a moment to get to know these extraordinary ladies a little better!

Kenzie Moellers

 

Kenzie is from Cresco and is the daughter of Ryan and Megan. Her sponsor is KDS Farms. Here is what Kenzie wanted to convey to the fair board.

"There was always something exciting and inspiring about seeing fair queens and princesses at the county fair to me. Whether they were handing out ribbons and awards to hardworking 4-Hers and FFA members or simply sharing a smile, they inspired me to give my best in everything I do. Their presence made me feel seen and motivated, and that's exactly what I hope to give back as the next Mighty Howard County Fair Queen.

 I love being involved in my community and helping others. From volunteering at local events to supporting fellow students and fair participants. I find joy in being part of something bigger than myself. Being fair queen would allow me to be even more involved, and serve as a friendly, uplifting face at events across our small but mighty county.

 I want to inspire others like past queens and princesses inspired me. I still remember the excitement of receiving a ribbon from a fair queen when I was younger. It made me feel so proud, encouraged, and included. I want to give that same feeling to others, not just during the fair, but throughout the year.

 Serving as fair queen is also a chance to grow. It would help me strengthen my leadership skills and become a more empathetic, confident, and impactful role model, which are qualities I aim to carry forward in life.

 Overall, I love my community and would be honored to represent it. I hope to give back by lifting others up, spreading kindness, and leaving a positive mark, just as past queens and princesses, and this amazing community, have done for me."

  Korey Hrdlicka

 

Korey is from Cresco and is the daughter of Jeff and Rita. She is sponsored by Phil's Lawn Service Inc. This is what Korey had to say

"The Mighty Howard County Fair has been a huge part of my life for as long as I can remember. I grew up walking through the barns, showing animals, and learning the value of hard work, responsibility, and community. Becoming the Mighty Howard County Fair Queen would be an incredible honor because it would allow me to represent the fair that has shaped who I am today and share my passion with others.

I want to serve as a positive role model for the younger children who live in the area. I remember looking up to the fair queen when I was younger, admiring her kindness, confidence, and leadership. She inspired me to stay involved, work hard, and believe in myself. I hope to inspire others in the same way, showing that anyone can achieve their goals through dedication, passion, and teamwork.

Being a fair queen would also give me the opportunity to give back to the community that has supported me over the years. I want to promote the fair, help bring people together, and share the importance of agriculture and rural traditions. I am proud of where I come from, and I want to help make sure that the future generations can experience the same joy and pride.

Lastly, I want to grow personally by stepping out of my comfort zone. Representing Howard County would help improve my public speaking and leadership skills, preparing me for future challenges and opportunities in school, work, and life. I know this experience would help me become a stronger, more confident person. I want to be the Mighty Howard County Fair Queen because I love my community, I want to be a positive example, and am excited to grow, serve, and give back. Thank you for considering me for this amazing honor.”

Kennedy Linkenmeyer

 

Kennedy is from Riceville and is the daughter of Dallas and Rebecca. She is sponsored by Upper Iowa Beef.

"The Mighty Howard County Fair has always held a special spot in my heart. From a young age, going to the fair was the highlight of my summer. I have loved, and still love, the people, the experiences, and the fair royalty. When I was five, I remember meeting a fair queen and thinking it was the best part of the entire fair. That moment sparked my dream of one day becoming The Mighty Howard County Fair Queen.

 I once heard a quote that goes, "There is always a child somewhere who is looking up to you." I have been lucky to have amazing role models like my parents, teachers, church congregation, and the fair queens. They've shown me unconditional kindness and support, encouraging me to be a positive teammate and leader. These influences, along with my involvement with organizations like 4-H, FFA, Howard County Youth Council, and Sunday School, helped me discover a passion for leadership and community service. These experiences have shaped who I am and made me believe in my ability to achieve my dream.

I have been fortunate to grow up in close-knit communities. If I am in Riceville, Cresco, or another small town in between, I know I will be welcomed with open arms. That feeling has made me want to do everything I can for our communities. Whether organizing an Angel Tree for home health or cleaning up the trails on weekends, I always feel a sense of gratitude and accomplishment. Helping out our communities lets me use my time for good. I have ked different service projects and founded the Riceville Community Service Club. Through it, individuals have found their passion for serving.

This past year, I had the incredible opportunity to serve as The Mighty Howard County Fair Princess. I experienced overwhelming love and support from the communities and realized how much my actions positively affected others. That experience keeps me wanting to continue serving the people who have supported me so much.

My involvement with the fair began as a toddler, as my parents took me every summer. We'd visit the animals, talk to the fair queen, and attend the grandstand events. In fourth grade, I began showing swine and cattle, then eventually goats. Since then, the fair has become my home away from home in the summer as my involvement continues to grow. I've gained a deep appreciation for the fair, board members, and fairgoers. Being a fair princess only deepened this appreciation. This past year has been nothing short of amazing. I met incredible people, attended great events, and proudly represented Howard County. As sad as I am to see the year-end, I'm grateful for the opportunity to run for queen.

Addie, the current queen, has been my biggest role model this year and an encouraging soul. I hope to be as good a role model for youth and communities as she and previous queens.

This year has taught me many things. I've met people of all ages who show wisdom, kindness, and compassion. Being the fair princess made me a more confident leader. I've always loved socializing and forming meaningful relationships. Becoming the Mighty Howard County Fair Queen would allow me to continue growing those connections. If given the opportunity, I hope to be a positive role model, confident leader, and supportive friend to all. If not chosen, I'll continue doing what I love, to make the Mighty Howard County Fair a wonderful experience for everyone involved.

  Briana Burke

 

• Briana is from Cresco and is the daughter of Amanda Roethler. She is sponsored by Kessel Kids CCLC. This is how Briana feels about potentially becoming the next Mighty Howard County Fair Queen.

 "The fair has always been more than an annual event. It's a celebration of hard work, tradition, and community. As a proud member of 4-H and FFA, and an active participant in high school girls' wrestling, I've developed a strong work ethic., leadership skills, and a deep appreciation for the values that make our country so special. I want to serve as the Mighty Howard County Fair Queen to represent those values and inspire the next generation to embrace agriculture, resilience, and service.

Through 4-H, I've learned responsibility, teamwork, and how to take pride in my work; whether in the 4-H building having projects judged or through community service projects. FFA has given me the chance to explore agriculture education, public speaking, and leadership on a broader level, connecting me with people who share a passion for farming, animal science, and rural life. Both organizations have taught me that success doesn't come easy, but with dedication and support, anything is possible.

Wrestling has been another powerful influence in y life. On the mat, I've discovered the strength of discipline, perseverance, and mental toughness, especially when dealing with an injury. It's a sport that teaches you to stand up when you fall and keep pushing when things get tough; qualities I believe are essential in a Fair Queen. Just like wrestling, being Queen requires resilience, confidence, and th ability to lead by example.

I want to be the Mighty Howard County Fair Queen to give back to the community that shaped me. I hope to serve as a positive role model who uplifts others and celebrate the dedication of our youth across all areas, from agriculture and the arts to sports and community service. Most importantly, I want to show that greatness come from grit, gratitude, and giving your all; whether you're volunteering behind the scenes, competing in an event, or simply showing up to support others. The fair is a  celebration of who we are, and I want to represent that spirit with pride and purpose.

No matter the outcome, I will be truly greatful for the opportunity to represent and give back to a community that has given me so much. Being part of the Howard County Fair means celebrating the values of hard work, kindness, and community spirit. Whether I wear the crown or cheer from the side lines, I will continue to honor those values with pride. Thank you for considering me for this opportunity."
