Mighty Howard County Fair has 10 queen contestants

CRESCO - The Mighty Howard County Fair will see ten young ladies competing for the title of 2024 Howard County Fair Queen. 
Elise Church,  Kennedy Linkenmeyer, Addy Isaacson, Camdyn Orth, Emma Godman, Kaiya Holten, Kenzie Moellers,  Korey Hrdlicka, Mackenzie Thiele, and Meredith Moore will be presenting to the Fair Board June 19, where the final judging will take place.
 
Getting to know the Mighty Howard Co. Queen candidates: 
• Elise Church is the daughter of Nate and Naomi Church, and recently graduated from Crestwood High School this spring.  She participated in 4H, Band, Choir, FFA, Cross Country, Track, and Space Age Farmers. She remembers “being little and showing in the kiddie calf show” during the fair and how seeing the fair queen made her “want to wear that crown too.” Church helps out at her family’s farm, and her hobbies include running, showing, tennis, and reading. Church’s achievements include Club Treasurer, three time Cross Country letter winner, four time Track letter winner, Academic letter winner, and three time Band letter winner. 
Church is sponsored by F7 Farms.
• Kennedy Linkenmeyer is the daughter of Rebecca and Dallas Linkenmeyer, and attends Riceville Community School as an incoming junior. She is involved in Student Council, Volleyball, Track, Leader in Me, FFA, and the founder of the Riceville Community Service Club.  “Being Fair Queen would give me an important opportunity to represent our wonderful county” Linkenmeyer said. Her accomplishments include being on Honor Roll for five years, serving as 4H Treasurer,  was named Outstanding Freshman, Greenhand, and Sophomore (FFA), was Miss Riceville in 2023, is a Student Body Education Representative, received the Self-determined Project Award (4H), Leadership Award (4H), Achievement in Leadership (4H), AKSARBEN (4H), and served as a panelist for the Secretary of Agriculture. 
Linkenmeyer is sponsored by Farmers Feed and Grain, and Mehmert Tiling. 
• Addalyn Isaacson is the daughter of Jamie Wenthold and Danny Isaacson. She recently graduated Crestwood High School this year, and participated in Cross Country, Track, Softball, Wrestling, Basketball, Student Council, FCA, HEROES/iStep, Marching Band, Concert Band, Choir, Cadet Zone, Dollars for Scholars, Silvercord, National Honor Society served as Color Guard and Winter Guard captain. Since graduating, she has worked at Fareway, Kessel Kids, and nannies. Isaacson was 4H President, Student Council Officer, HEROES Leader, FCA Leader, received several letters for academics and varsity sports, Gold Cord Recipient for academic achievement, Silvercord Recipient for volunteer hours, and honored with a National Honor Society for Character and Academic Achievement award. “I want to become fair queen because I am extremely proud of my community, my county, and my fair” says Isaacson.

• Camdyn Orth is the daughter of Trent and Kimberly Orth, and graduated  Riceville Community School this spring. She participated in FFA, National Honor Society, Student Council, Cheerleading, Volleyball, Basketball, and Track. She was the president of the National Honor Society, Homecoming Queen, President of the Student Council, and received the Governor Scholar Award, the Kim Grimm Award, IA Girl Award, and Academic All-State Basketball. Her hobbies include reading, exercising, shopping, and tennis. “My county is one of the most special and unique places” says Orth, “and I would be honored to serve as their 2024 Mighty Howard County fair Queen.”

• Emma Godman is the daughter of Krista and David Godman, and will be an incoming junior at Crestwood High School this fall. She participates in Volleyball, Track, Band, Choir, Speech, Heroes, Esports, Respect Retreat Leader, and Color Guard. She has received the Kari Anderson Spirit Award, Citizenship Award, Varsity lettering for track, an Academic Excellence Award, Sportsmanship Award, Certificate of Appreciation for Helping, and Distinguished in Academic Achievement from Iowa Girls HS.  Her hobbies include Paddleboarding, painting, reading, Tennis, Sand Volleyball, and arts/crafts. “I don’t see the Fair Queen as a title, I see it as an opportunity to be involved in more aspects of the fair and to be positive role model in the community,” says Godman.

• Kaiya Holten is the daughter of Brad and Alison Holten, and graduated from Crestwood High School this spring. She participated in Golf, Silver Cord, National Honor Society, Softball, Wrestling, Student Council, Volleyball,  was the Football and Basketball Manager. She received an academic letter, was All Conference in Golf, lettered in Basketball, Football and Softball, received the Crestwood Sportsmanship Award and the Community Commitment award, was on the NICC Dean’s List, and was admitted into the PhiThesta Kappa Honor Society. Her hobbies include traveling, Golfing, camping, and swimming. Holten grew up volunteering at the fair and “spends countless hours on the grounds”. 
Holten is sponsored by Evans Senior Living Community. 
• Kenzie Moellers is the daughter of Meagan and Ryan Moellers, and will be attending Crestwood High School as an incoming junior. She is involved with FFA, volleyball, basketball, golf, Talented and Gifted (TAG), Heroes, Band, and  Respect Retreat Leader. Her achievements include being Vice President in FFA, Student of the Month, Drum Major for two years, lettering in academics, receiving the Sportsmanship Award, Spirit Award, participated in Honor Band, and even went to the Iowa State Fair for various projects. Her hobbies include baking, reading, playing piano, helping on the family farm, crafting, painting, learning guitar, helping at grandfather’s farm, and learning a new language. “I’ve alway admired the gorgeous and accomplished fair queens and princesses at our county fair” says Moellers. 
Moellers is sponsored by Caledonia Haulers. 
• Korey Hrdlicka is the daughter of Rita and Jeff Hrdlicka and will be a senior at Crestwood High School this fall. She is involved with the National Honors Society, Silver Cord, Basketball, Cross Country, Softball, Track, and Respect Retreat Leader. Honors she has received include being a National Honor Society inductee, being awarded multiple varsity letter awards, academic awards, a Silver Cord Hour Certificate, and participating at the Iowa State Track Meet. Her hobbies include boating, hunting, hiking, running, mowing, and just spending time outdoors. Hrdlicka states “being a positive role model for the community is something that I want to be.”

• Mackenzie Thiele is the daughter of Trent and Kris Thiele and will be a Crestwood High School Senior this fall. She is an Assistant Reporter, Reporter, and President of FFA, was named Outstanding Eighth, Ninth, Tenth, and Eleventh Grader, lettered in Band, and received several other awards by participating in FFA. Her hobbies include reading, spending time with family, being outside, helping people, and baking. Thiele explains she wants to pursue the role of Fair Queen so she can “passionately serve (her) community with a positive outlook.”

• Meredith Moore is the daughter of Josh and Barb Moore, and graduated from Crestwood High School this spring. She participated in Honor Band from seventh to twelfth grade, was a section leader for woodwinds, and lettered in Band, Choir, Track & Field, Softball, Speech, Cheerleading, and Academics. She received two Distinguished in Academic Achievement Awards, and one Excellence in Academic Achievement Award.  Moore’s hobbies include walking, taking care of family pets, singing, and playing musical instruments. “ I would like to be  Fair Queen to inspire and be a role model for the younger generation” says Moore.
