CRESCO - John H. Langreck, age 69, of Cresco, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, May 5, 2021, at Regional Health Services of Howard County in Cresco.
A visitation was held on May 11, 2021 at Heritage Events Center, Cresco. A private burial will take place at a later date.
John Hugo Langreck was born on Nov. 17, 1951 to Raymond and Ruth (Heying) Langreck in Cresco. He was one of five girls and six boys. He attended Notre Dame and graduated in 1970. After high school, he served in the United States Army from 1971-1973 as a medic. He was stationed in Germany.
John was united in marriage to Cynthia Moe on June 22, 1977. Three children were born to this union.
John was born with farming in his blood and enjoyed farming alongside his dad and brothers. He worked at Featherlite for over 30 years and enjoyed building NASCAR trailers. For many years, he installed flooring on the side. You could also find him spending time with and helping friends and family with projects of any kind.
John and his kids enjoyed driving around the country, checking out the farms and telling stories. He was proud of the cabin that he built with his brother and friends. Many cards were played, and memories were shared at the cabin. You could find him and his buddies with Busch Light and a story to go with the many adventures they were on.
He was proud of his grandkids and enjoyed spending time with them, whether it was riding on the lawn mower or pulling them in the wagon when they were little.
John is survived by his children, Melissa (Jeremy Kallberg) Langreck, Nathan “Tater” (Alyse Simiele) Langreck and Joshua (Jolene) Langreck; grandkids, Haley, Chase and Cain Newman, Adeline Langreck and John and Hayden Langreck; siblings, Linda (Bob) Henson, Gary (Janel) Langreck, Kenny (Colleen) Langreck, Diane (Dan) McGrain, Donna (Jeff) Jones, Deb (Glen) McIntire, Dar (John) Skoda, Dennis (Beth) Langreck, Ron (Julie) Langreck and Rick Langreck; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Ruth Langreck, and his great-niece, Kaitlyn Mumm.
