FORMERLY OF BONAIR - Rosetta “Rose” Murray, age 87, of Oelwein, Iowa, formerly of Bonair, Iowa, died on Wednesday, April 5, 2023, at Cedar Valley Hospice Home in Waterloo, Iowa, surrounded by her family.
Funeral services were held on Monday, April 10, 2023, at Hindt-Hudek Funeral Home inCresco, with her grandson, Nicholas Bentley officiating. Burial was at Phillips Cemetery in Bonair. Online condolences may be left at Hindtfuneralhomes.com
Rosetta Mae Murray was born on June 26, 1935, the daughter of Daniel Lloyd and Eva Mae (Grabau) Murray in Bonair. She enjoyed going out to eat, collecting dolls, going shopping for “junk” and working on needlepoint.
Rose looked forward to planting a large garden in the spring. She liked to can the vegetables that were harvested in the fall. The last food she ever canned were watermelon pickles.
Rose moved and travelled a lot in her lifetime. Some of the places she visited included Graceland, Rapid City, Hawaii, New Orleans, Mexico and Florida. Rose had a soft spot in her heart for animals, especially her dogs.
Her family was the most important to her. She loved and was very proud of her children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She enjoyed family gatherings and holding all the babies . . . until they could talk back.
Rose is survived by her two daughters, Brenda Jungen of Oelwein and Roxanne (Dean) Mobley of Cedar Falls, Iowa; daughter-in-law, Sue Bentley of Shell Rock, Iowa; special nieces Sandy Clements of Evansdale, Iowa and Sherri Mastin of Newberry, Fla.; special nephew Jeffry Mastin of Waterloo; grandchildren, Christina Reams of Greene, Iowa, Cynthia (Robert) Howell of Osage, Iowa, James (Tina) Bentley of Shell Rock, Shawn (Christina Edmonds) Bentley of Oelwein, Nicholas (Laura) Bentley of New Hampton, Iowa, Benjamin (Laura) Jungen of Waterloo, Carl Adams of Clarksville, Iowa, Elizabeth (fiancé Josh O’Connell) Adams of Cedar Falls, Tiffany Nieman of Waterloo and Brandon Crawford of Waterloo; 24 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Daniel and Eva; three children, Daniel Bentley, Deborah Bentley and Brian Bentley; and her siblings, Lyell (Lucille) Murray, Ruth Logsdon, Esther (Gregory) Zweibohmer and Paul (Lucille) Murray.
