Dennis L. Myron, 74, of rural Ridgeway, Iowa, passed away peacefully on March 14, 2026, at The Highlands in Decorah.
Dennis was born on April 7, 1951, in Preston Village, Fillmore County, Minnesota, to Irvin Teman Myron and Esther McCallson. He graduated from Harmony High School in 1969 and later earned a double major in psychology and sociology from Winona State University.
After college, Dennis began his career with Olmsted Social Services in Rochester, Minnesota. He later moved to San Jose, California, where he learned the tile trade.
His professional path was wide-ranging and service oriented: he worked as a fundraiser for Methodist Hospital, contributing to the construction of the Eisenberg building; accepted a transfer to Clearwater, Florida, for additional fundraising work; returned to the tile business; and eventually served as a fundraiser for the Boys and Girls Club in Minneapolis.
In 1996, Dennis moved to Ridgeway, Iowa, where he built his home in Turkey River Acres. There he founded Turkey River Tile, becoming known throughout the region as a master craftsman whose work reflected both exceptional skill and deep pride.
Dennis lived in Minnesota, California, Florida, and Iowa, and each place shaped his love of the outdoors. He enjoyed growing roses, fishing (and was known to out fish everyone), competitive shooting, and mentoring fellow shooters. His adventures took him across the country and beyond: prairie dog shooting in South and North Dakota, fishing trips to Canada, hog hunting in Texas, traveling on his motorcycle and a memorable hunting trip to Australia. He also enjoyed pistol shooting at the Fort Atkinson and Cresco Wildlife Club.
Dennis treasured conversations with friends, stayed close with his high school classmates, and adored his two dogs—often signing his name alongside theirs.
He is survived by his sister Judy Brown; sister-in-law Molly Myron; nephew Jeff Myron (Kelly); niece Susie (Bill) Zimmerman and their children Blake, Sam, and Skylar; nieces Donna Mae Miller and Carroll St. John; and several grandnieces and grandnephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Irvin and Esther Myron; stepfather Clarence Dawley; brother Irvin Myron; sisters Luella Johnson and Betty Bilson; and nephew Christopher Brown.
In honor of Dennis’s love for the outdoors and his dogs, memorials may be made to Northeast Iowa Humane Society, Cresco Wildlife Club or Ridgeway Fire Department.
A Celebration of Life was held on April 11, 2026 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at the Cresco Wildlife Club in Cresco, Iowa.
Schmelzer Funeral Home in Cresco assisted the family.
