Evelyn Grace Adamec, 93

Evelyn Grace Adamec died on July 27, 2026, at the age of 93 surrounded by family at the Evans Senior Living Community.

Evelyn was born August 9, 1932, and was a lifelong resident of Cresco, Iowa. She was married to Elmer L. Adamec for 38 years, raising four children on a dairy farm.  He preceded her in death in 1994.

Evelyn taught within the Howard Winneshiek School District for 34 years covering fourth grade, sixth grade, and Gifted and Talented programming during that time between schools in Cresco and Ridgeway, receiving many awards and recognition of her teaching skills.  She was very active in a range of organizations within the community, traveled extensively with her family and friends, and spent much time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren during her retirement years.

Evelyn is survived by her four children, Julie Paulson (Robert) of Racine, WI; Catherine Clark (Steven), Sioux Falls, SD; Linda Bigley (Tim), Johnston, IA; and James Adamec, Cibilo, TX. She is further survived by seven grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren. 

In lieu of flowers, Evelyn has requested that memorials be directed to HoCA, the Notre Dame Parish, or the VFW Auxiliary.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 19, 2026, at Notre DameCatholic Church, with Recitation of the Rosary beginning at 9:30 a.m., and one hour visitation before mass begins. Evelyn will be laid to rest at Calvary Cemetery in Cresco. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Hindt-Hudek Funeral Home, with VFW Auxiliary service beginning at 4:45 p.m. and a Vigil Wake Service will at 7:00 p.m.
