Chief Chuck is deeply grateful for the unwavering support of his full-time employer, Bodensteiner Implement, who have been instrumental in his firefighting journey and his recent appointment as Fire Chief. However, one of the most challenging aspects of his transition into this new leadership role that he has experienced so far has been navigating communication with City Hall and the County. Complicating matters is the fact that these entities operates on the same schedule as Chief Reicks main job at Bodensteiner Implement, requiring him to carefully manage his time in order to fulfill his duties as Fire Chief while also ensuring he does not neglect his responsibilities at his primary place of employment. This delicate balancing act has pushed Chief Reicks to find innovative ways to juggle his commitments effectively, all while maintaining the high standards of professionalism and dedication that define his character.

He is committed to implementing new initiatives and training programs that will enhance the skills and capabilities of his team, ensuring that they are prepared to face the challenges of tomorrow all while maintaining the stardards that were already put in place by his predecessor. His focus on collaboration and communication with other emergency response agencies will further strengthen the department's ability to respond effectively to large-scale incidents. Also the recent addition of water capabilities and a drone have already enhanced what the department is capable of, training will be continued in both areas. Reicks is very grateful of what Stapelkamp started with the department and that he is staying on as a supportive, there to assist as needed. Teamwork between the officers, former officers as well as all the members is an important part of the running of the firehouse in Cresco and it shows.

His leadership is characterized by a deep sense of responsibility and a genuine desire to serve, making him a respected and admired figure within the firefighting community adding when asked what he would like to be known for, “Just being an all around good person, that would make me happy”.
Reicks also shared insights into his personal life outside of the firehouse, revealing a diverse range of hobbies and interests that help him recharge and stay balanced. When he's not battling blazes or leading his team, Chief Reicks can be found revving up his motorcycle and embarking on scenic countryside tours, reveling in the freedom of the open road and the beauty of nature. Another passion that lights up Chief Reicks life is working on his farm, tending to and nurturing the woods and deer plots that form a tranquil escape from the demands of his role as Fire Chief. The connection to the land and the serenity of the outdoors provide him with a sense of grounding and fulfillment, allowing him to recharge and rejuvenate his spirit.
In addition to his outdoor pursuits, Chief Chuck cherishes precious moments spent with his family. He shares his life in Cresco with his wife, Joanne, who works at Collins Aerospace, known to many as Rockwell Collins in Decorah, and their 19 year old daughter Kyrah, who recently graduated from Crestwood High School and is now attending NICC. Together, they form a supportive and loving network that brings joy and balance to Chief Reicks life, reminding him of the importance of family and connection in the midst of his firefighting duties.
